What's the Purpose?

So you may be perusing this blog, asking yourself "how can two supposed ideological enemies such as Liberalism and Christianity coexisit?"  Well my friends, that's a question I asked myself.  How can one equate the Godless menace of liberalism with the holy tenents of the Christian faith?  Can one be a Democrat and a Christian?  These are the questions I seek to explore and discuss on this website.

On the topic of gay marriage:  Is homosexuality sin?  If it is, how does that relate to other sins? Is homosexuality the “ultimate sin” some see it as?  Does gay marriage really matter?

On the topic of welfare:  What does the Bible have to say?  Those who do not work do not eat - is this the ultimate response to the welfare-state mentality?  What of the commandments to care for those who can’t care for themselves?  Regarding the taxes paid for welfare, what of the commandment to "render unto Caesar what is Caeser's?"

On the topic of forgiveness:  Which of the two major U.S. parties better espouses the tenets of forgiveness?

On charity:  We’re to tithe money to the poor. How do social welfare programs fit into this?  Is it a donation if it’s forced?  Many say that it is not, but is there a Biblical basis for this?

On government-funded healthcare:  Where does state-funded healthcare fit into God’s worldview?  Is it the evil of all evils, or the ultimate good?  Should one be responsible for their own healthcare, should society join together to care for eachother, or should it be somewhere in between the two?

What is “God’s Kingdom on Earth?” Should man attempt to establish it? If so, what is it?  What would “God’s Kingdom on Earth” look like? What features would it have?  Is it possible for man to create an utopian society on Earth without engaging in ungodly behaviors?  If man must engage in ungodly behaviors to establish a godly society, who sets the standard of what is Godly and what isn’t?

I look forward to enjoying your feedback, and plan for a lively dialoge with all involved.
